Capul Island is an island municipality of Northern Samar. The name Capul comes from the shortened version of its previous name, Acapulco, which hailed during the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade. It has a functioning lighthouse built by the Spanish in the late 1800s.

From Tacloban to Capul Island

1. If you are coming from the airport, ride a jeep heading to Downtown and ask the driver to drop you off in Grand Tours.
2. In Grand Tours, look for a van heading to Allen, Northern Samar.
3. Upon arrival at Allen, ride a tricycle heading to Allen Port. Beside this is the boat terminal heading to Capul Island.
4. Ride the boat heading to Capul Island.

From Ormoc to Capul Island

1. If you are coming from Cebu through Ormoc Port, ride a van heading to Tacloban in the terminal in front of the port. Ask to be dropped off at Grand Tours.
2. In Grand Tours, look for a van heading to Allen, Northern Samar.
3. Upon arrival at Allen, ride a tricycle heading to Allen Port. Beside this is the boat terminal heading to Capul Island.
4. Ride the boat heading to Capul Island.

– You can swim at the natural saltwater pool of Totoog Point and on the white beaches across the island.

– This was an important trading spot during the 1600s.
– The lighthouse built by the Spaniards in the 1800s is still functioning to this day.

– The Capul Island Lighthouse was declared as a National Historical Landmark of the Philippines in 2013.
